When an instance of VisionFlow is created, a number of configuration item types are created by default.
The defaults are focused on software development, but you can easily create new configuration item types that suit how you work.
Default configuration item types:
Product: This configuration item type is the one with most functionality, and by default corresponds to the issue field Product.
Release: this is used to tie together issues and sprints from different projects. You can set the same Release on different project sprints, and issues from both projects can be associated with the same release in the Planning board or Timeline/Gantt chart.
ProductModule: This is a default configuration item type that is created by the system and offered as a child for Config items of type Product in the CMDB tree menu.
Service, Network, Hardware, Software: These types are created by default, but does not have any specific functionality tied to them. If they do not suit you, rename them or just create a new configuration item with a name that suits you.
Note that the configuration item type can determine what custom fields are available on the config item. You can set that in "Edit Configuration Item types".
